Der Schwarze Holunder

Winterzeit = Grippezeit... passend dazu eine Pflanze, welche bei Fieber und Erkältungskrankheiten gute Dienste anbietet. Zudem ist der Holunder wohl einer der interessantesten Pflanzen der europäischen Mythologie.

Lateinischer Name: Sambucus nigra L.

Volksnamen: Holder, schwarzer Flieder, Holderbusch, Holle, Altholder, Bachholder, Ellhorn, Mausflieder, Schiebekenestrauch

Familie: Geissblattgewächse (Caprifoliacea)

Botanik: flachwurzelnder und schnellwachsender Strauch oder kleiner Baum (bis zu 10 m hoch)
Wurzel:
starke Wurzeln mit hellbraunem oder grauweissem Stamm. Das Innere des Stammes birgt ein korkartiges, weisses Mark.
Blatt:
Die gegnständigen Blätter sind unpaarig gefiedert. Sie setzen sich aus 5 bis 7 (oder sogar 9) elliptischen, hellgrünen Fiederblättchen mit gesägtem Rand zusammen.

Blüte:
Im Sommer kleidet sich der Strauch mit unzähligen honiglosen, stark duftenden, weissen/cremefarbenen Blüten in schirmförmigen Trugdolden. Die Blütenstände stehen aufrecht (im Gegensatz zu den Fruchtständen, die durch das massige Gewicht der Beeren nach unten geneigt sind).

Fucht:
Im Herbst biegt sich der Holunder unter seinen fast schwarzen Beerenschirmen. Schön glänzende Beerensträusse hat sich das wilde Geissblatt angesteckt. Diese Beeren sind eine Lieblingsnahrung verschiedener Vögel, die den Samen oftmals an schwer zugänglichen Orten aussäen.

Anwendungen (med.)/
Rezepte (Küche): -Holunderblütentee:1 TL pro Tasse mit heissem Wasser übergiessen und zugedeckt 5 min. ziehen lassen -Rindentee:1 TL pro Tasse in einer Pfanne, möglichst kein Metall, für ca. 5-10 min ausgekocht und dann abseihen
-Holunderbeersaft
-Holundeblüten: 10-20 Holunderblütendolden werden mit einem Liter Wasser kurz aufgekocht, etwa 24 Stunden ziehen gelassen und abgeseiht. Dem Filtrat gibt man 1 Kilo Honig oder Zucker hinzu, löst auf und füllt in Flaschen ab.
-bei Ohr-/Kopfschmerzen ein mit Blüten gefülltes und mit heissem Wasser überbrühtes Leinensäcklein noch warm aufs Ohr legen
-Holunderlikör: man nimmt frische oder gedörrte Beeren, deckt diese mit Branntwein oder ähnlichem zu, stellt sie eine Woche an die Sonne und presst nach dieser Zeit ab. Durch die Zugabe von Zimt, Gewürznelken und/oder Ingwer lassen sich sehr feine Variationen machen!
-Holundermus: 1 kg Beeren mit 200g Zucker und 30g Mehl aufkochen und in Gläser abfüllen.
-frische Blätter in Milch kurz aufkochen und als Blätterbrei auf blutende Hämorrhoiden legen


Mythologie: Der Holunder ist ein Gewächs, welches einen hohen Stellenwert in der Mythologie der Germanen, Kelten und Slawen einnahm. Darum möchte ich mich hier auch nur auf einige Aspekte beschränken:
Die Namen Hölderlin und Hollabiru – alte volkstümliche Namen für den Teufel – haben mit dem Holunder zu tun. Aber dass der Holunder mit der Frau Holle, des Teufels Grossmutter etwas zu tun hat, das bestreiten viele Sprachwissenschaftler. Sie führen die Vorsilbe hol auf *kal (=schwarz) und die Nachsilbe der auf *tro (=Baum) zurück; so wäre der Holunder der „schwarze Baum“.
Die andere, einleuchtendere Erklärung ist die, dass der Strauch als Wohnsitz der besagten Frau Holle, hinter der sich die archaische Göttin Holle/Holda/Hel versteckt, galt. Sie ist die grosse Göttin, die Erdgöttin, die Schwarze Göttin, die Göttin der Nacht und als Seelenhüterin auch eine Göttin des Todes. Wie jedoch das Licht aus der Dunkelheit hervorgeht, so geht aus der schwarzen Erdgöttin die weisse Lichtjungfrau hervor und ist somit auch Symbol für Geburt und Neuerstehung, also zugleich auch eine Fruchtbarkeitsgöttin. Die kulturelle Symbolik umfasst genau diese Polarität!

Baum des Todes
Der Holunder spielte eine zentrale Rolle in zahlreichen Totenkulten. Die heidnischen Friesen begruben ihre Toten unter dem Ellhorn beim Haus. Vielerorts war es Brauch, die Verstorbenen auf Holunderreisig zu betten. Der Sargschreiner musste den Sarg mit einer Holundergerte ausmessen und der Kutscher des Leichenwagens sollte eine Holunderrute als Peitsche für die Pferde nehmen.
Der Holunder, der als Sippenbaum neben dem Haus wächst, ist ein Schwellenbaum, ein Zugang zu den verstorbenen Ahnen. Man konnte sie zu magischen Zeiten um Rat fragen, und auch sonst wirkten sie von der anderen Seite her weiter am Verderb oder Gedeihen der Hinterbliebenen. Da ist es selbstverständlich, dass man ihnen unter dem Holunder Schälchen mit Milch, Brei, Brot, Bier hinstellte.
Wenn ein Kind krank war und Gefahr bestand, dass es stirbt, legten die gallischen Mütter Puppen als stellvertretendes Opfer unter den Baum. Wenn das Kind wieder gesund wurde, gab man dem Holunder zum Dank Geschenke.
Als Zugang zur Anderswelt stand der Holunder auch in enger Verbindung mit Zwergen, Elfen, Gnomen und Kobolden (deren Königin die Frau Holle ist). Wer unter dem Baum einschläft oder in Tiefenmeditation gerät, der wird bald die Nähe dieser Naturwesen spüren. Wer in der Mittsommernacht unter den blühenden Strauch sitzt, kann die Elfenkönigin mitsamt ihrem Hofstaat wahrnehmen. Wiegen durften nicht aus Holunderholz gebaut werden, da ansonsten das Kind von den Elfen heimgesucht und gequält wird.

Baum des Lebens und Liebens
Der Strauch galt nicht nur als Zugang zum Totenreich und half den verstorbenen über die Schwelle ins Hollenreich, sondern auch denen, die wiederkehrten. So wurde der Strauch auch mit Sexualität und Geburt in Verbindung gebracht. Ganz dezent wird dies in einem alten Ringelreihelied ausgedrückt: „Hinter einem Holderbusch gab sie ihrem Schatz ‚nen Kuss. Roter Wein, weisser Wein, morgen soll die Hochzeit sein.“ Eine Schwangere, die die Zweige des Hofholunders berührte, versicherte sich der Nähe und Güte der Holle und der Ahnen.

Dieser Glaube muss im keltisch-germanischen Heidentum überall verbreitet gewesen sein. Die einsetze Christianisierung konnte diese besondere Verehrung des Strauches keinen Einhalt gebieten. Deshalb begann man die Geschichte einfach umzudeuten und zu „christianisieren“: die süssliche Sage erzählt, dass die Gottesmutter Maria die Windeln des Christkindleins wusch und an den Ästen eines Holunderbaumes zum Trocknen aufhängte. Seither gilt er als gesegneter Baum. (Was Christen alles so einfällt...tststs ...)

Ehrfurchtsvoll verneigten sich einst die Bauern oder zogen den Hut vor ihm. Sein Holz durfte nicht geschlagen werden und falls es einmal doch wirklich notwendig wurde, bat man den Baum zuerst in einem sorgfältig durchzuführenden Ritual um Verzeihung. Das geschnittene Holz wurde jedoch nicht gebraucht und auch nicht verbrannt, sondern wieder der Erde übergeben.

Auch der medizinisch-magische Gebrauch des Strauches spielte eine grosse Rolle. Dies er beruht vor allem darauf, dass der Baum die negativen Energien, die „fliegenden Gifte“ und die „bösen Geister“ und das Unglück anzieht und festhält oder in die Unterwelt ableitet. Man kann dem Holunder also alles Mögliche an Leiden und Siechtum anhängen. Ein Beispiel sei erwähnt: Bei Fieber ging man in der Nacht bei abnehmendem Mond zum Hollerbusch, band einen Bindfaden um den Stamm und sagte: „Guten tag, Flieder, ich bring Dir mein Fieber, ich binde es an, nun geh ich in Gottes Namen davon.“

Hochinteressanter Beitrag, bisher war mir der Holunder v. a. als das wirksamste Hausmittel gegen Grippe/Erkältungen bekannt.

Altes Familienrezept:
Im Spätsommer wird aus den reifen Beeren Saft eingemacht, um einen Wintervorrat zu haben. Bei grippalen Infekten wird vor dem Schlafen ein guter halber Liter heißer Tee mit ca. 1/3 Holdersaft gemischt und möglichst heiß getrunken. Dann ins Bett, und am nächsten morgen wacht man zwar naßgeschwitzt, aber viel wohler wieder auf und hat nach 2-3 Tagen dieser Kur alles überstanden.

Weiterhin ist mir noch das "Judasohr" bekannt, ein Pilz (Judasohr, Auricularia auricula-judae, in China "Mu-Erh"), der normal nur an Holunderholz wächst.
Seinen Namen hat der Pilz aus der Bibel, da Judas Ischariot sich an einem Holunderbaum erhängt hat.
In der Medizin wurde das Judasohr im Mittelalter zur Heilung von Augenkrankheiten äußerlich angewendet, heute hat man ihn über die Traditionelle Chinesische Medizin wiederentdeckt als enzündungshemmendes und blutverdünnendes Mittel.
